  1. Unfortunately the August metres are incomplete again. The month is still open and will not close until the end of September.

I again draw your attention to the conflict of message. This is a participation program intended to engage every swimmer. The program should tell every swimmer that their contribution to their club’s total is valuable, no matter how many times the swim or how many metres they log in.

Your premature posting of the top 5 individuals is in conflict with the intent of the program. Why not simply point people to the full MMC page. It gives a whole different message. One of fun and participation.

      1. Hi Swim4Life,

It is good that MSC is highlighting its participation programmes.

A Blog like this is a good opportunity to discuss the programmes that are important to us. As a shameless promoter and coordinator of the MMC in my own club, I have made a few changes in how I celebrate the milestones. I now present the 100K milestones first so that newer participants are not discouraged. I am also considering adding a few more “bragging rights” milestones so that swimmers are recognized for early progress.

About 70% + swimmers in my club swim for fitness. I try to find ways to make them realize that their weekly swims are as important as the ones from teammates who get wet every day.

As for posting incomplete results, imagine what Penny Oleksiak would have said, had the gold medal in the 100m Free been awarded after 75m.

If you, Swim4LIfe, coordinate the MMC in your club I would be interested in your approach to encouraging participation.
